  • Is the Consulate authorized to extend the use of expired German passports?

Forms for requesting a passport extension may be obtained at the Consulate. For any other matters pertaining to German passports, please consult with us.

  • Does the Consulate handle requests for German passport eligibility?

Those requesting to receive a German passport for the first time have the following options:

1. In the event that they hold documents explicitly testifying the German citizenship of their parents and grandparents, they may submit the request through the Consulate.

2. If they have received authorization of their eligibility for German citizenship, the request for their child’s first passport must be submitted through the Embassy in Tel Aviv.

  • Which documents may receive notarized certification?

Various documents, almost without exception, may receive notarized certification at the Consulate.

  • To which languages can documents and certifications be translated?

The Consulate translates documents and certifications to Hebrew, German and English.

  • Can translated documents be authorized at the Consulate?

Translation authorization for documents translated from Hebrew to German are approved by the Consulate. Translation authorizations for documents translated from German to Hebrew, from German to English and vice versa are approved by Mr. Michael Pappe, Adv. as a notary.

  • In which fields can information be received?

The Consulate provides full informative answers regarding Germany in the fields of culture, trade, addresses and more.

  • When should one approach the Consulate and when should one approach the German Embassy in Tel Aviv?

1. The Consulate serves as an extension of the German Embassy in all matters related to youth exchange programs, delegation exchange, diplomat visits, cultural and trade relations and more.

2. The Consulate authorizes various documents for German authorities, pension and compensation authorities in Germany (authorization of valid citizenship for pension requirements and more).

3. The Consulate provides maritime services for German vessels.

4. Regarding conditions and scholarships in the field of higher education in Germany, it is recommended that one contacts the Cultural Department at the Embassy in Tel Aviv.

5. For requests dealing with immigrating to Germany and various types of visas and work permits, please contact the Embassy in Tel Aviv.

  • Does the Consulate perform and authorize German civil marriage ceremonies?

The Consulate does not perform and authorize German civil marriage ceremonies.
